# getProductionByPeriod

> Production per day, month or year (.well v2.3 derived values), ascending by period key. Only periods that a contribution touches are returned.

Production per day, month or year (.well v2.3 derived values), ascending
by period key. Only periods that a contribution touches are returned.

Every volume is prorated linearly by time across period boundaries: a
meter interval over [r₁, r₂], an estimated volume over the uncovered part
of its period. Boundaries are local midnights in the offset written on the
span's start, and period keys are local dates as written. An interval of
unknown volume counts in `unknown_intervals` of every period it touches.
Precedence follows [getProductionTotal](/utils/api/functions/getProductionTotal); the buckets add up to it.
