# getSampleDepth

> Effective depth of a sample. A sample taken at the production pump (samplingpoint.pumpinstallationid) takes the pump's intakedepth; otherwise samplingpoint.depth gives a point and from/to an interval (depth wins on the malformed combination of both). undefined when the depth is unknown (no sampling

Effective depth of a sample. A sample taken at the production pump
(`sampling_point.pump_installation_id`) takes the pump's `intake_depth`;
otherwise `sampling_point.depth` gives a point and `from`/`to` an interval
(`depth` wins on the malformed combination of both). `undefined` when the
depth is unknown (no sampling point, a wellhead tap, an unresolved pump or
a pump without `intake_depth`).
