# isFlowingArtesian

> Returns true when the most recent static water level is above ground (negative, per the .well level sign convention), i.e. the well is flowing artesian. Returns false when there is no static level on record.

Returns `true` when the most recent static water level is above ground
(negative, per the `.well` level sign convention), i.e. the well is flowing
artesian. Returns `false` when there is no static level on record.

Since `.well` v2.1 this is the canonical way to detect a flowing artesian
well; `well_type: "artesian"` is deprecated.
